Just made this new 4" square wall panel. I'm pretty happy with it--especially the color and I think they would look really nice in multiples; so that means I need to make some more!

I Won!

Last year we got this sweater for N. on sale at J. Crew. It may not look like anything special, but it is really warm and comfortable, so though we bought it for him, a tug-of-war ensued. He would come home to find me wearing it and I would keep it on until he started to complain too loudly about being cold. But all's well that ends well (for me!). We just bought N. a new sweater this weekend and this sweater is now mine!

I bought these plants from the Botanical Garden a couple weeks ago. I used an old copper bowl I made for the planter.

Skull painting

Spent Sunday painting Mexican-style skulls for Dia de los Muertos. Michael's had these paper skulls on sale last week so we bought a bunch and my mom printed off images from the internet to use as reference. Good times.

I'll post pictures of everyone else's skulls when I get them from my mom's camera.

My moss terrarium

It looks like I may have picked up a couple grass seeds with the moss I nabbed--it's started to sprout.

I'm loving me some moss.

This is the real reason I went to the Botanical Garden--the moss area in the Japanese garden. I would love to have a yard covered in moss someday because it's pretty, clean, and doesn't need to be mowed.

Instead, I made myself a moss terrarium in a mason jar.

My favorite greenhouse at MoBot.

I guess this is a pretty traditional English style greenhouse with lots of tropical plants but all that green on the ground is Baby's Tears, which I love. It makes me think of the apartment greenhouse in the movie Green Card--not a great movie, but the greenhouse is so beautiful that it's worth watching just to see it.

I took a walk this morning

at the gorgeous Missouri Botanical Garden because they have free morning hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I have many photographs to share, but the first are these crazy mums--at least I'm pretty sure they're mums judging by the shapes of the leaves and the styles of the flowers.

Updating my Etsy shop!

Over the next week I plan to update my Etsy shop to add new jewelry, ornaments, wall panels, wall pockets and these silver barrettes. So check back often...

Amazing!

One of my good friends from Kent's graduate program, Nikki Couppee, made this pin (top) and ring (bottom) for N. and me in a trade. I gave her a copper bowl, a silver spoon and an ornament and I still feel like she got jipped, because these are sooooo beautiful.

N.'s pin is a Smith and Wesson .44 magnum and the hand gesture on my ring is not only the letter 'C', for Corey, but is also a gesture made by stage-hands in Mexico when a live television broadcast is going to a commercial break. Evidently the literal translation of what it means in Spanish is "there's still more," so Nikki also intends this as a sign of good wishes for our future. I could not be happier!

THE best thing about summer.

We've been officially living in St. Louis for just under a month. So far, so good. The unpacking's done and the studio is set-up. I'll be teaching a class at Maryville University starting next week so, that's something to look forward to.

This is our driveway at the moment. It's nice to have several days to pack and load our things before we move. We were worried that all our stuff would not fit, but I think we've been successful at 'tetris-ing' our stuff into the nooks and crannies.

Sorry for my absence from blogging lately; I haven't really felt like it and decided not to force myself.
